| The students of this high school were invited to submit their thoughts about what they value about their school. The grades 8/9 Visual Arts class then explored ideas and images about contemporary mural painting with established local artist Vaughn Warren, before starting the creative process of designing a mural to represent the school. The result of the project will be a lasting legacy and visual celebration of arts education in this community. |

| The action of this student production is set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Lousiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich residents. Filled with hilarious dialogue and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when, in the second act, the spunky Shelby risks pregnancy and forfeits her life. The sudden realization of their mortality affects the play's characters, but also draws on their underlying strengths and love, which makes this production truly touching and funny.
