Artists -- student, amateur and professional -- will create artwork using only a single piece of paper and cutting tools -- no colours or dyes, thus having minimal environmental impact. The entries will be displayed during Arts and Culture Week. Arts North Community Arts Council 250-774-5370

What: Art That Moves You When: April 22 Where: Fort St. John Public Library
The 4th annual launch of the Art that Moves You panels, featuring artwork by local artists. The panels are displayed on the exterior of City of Fort St. John Transit buses for the summer months. A series of eight bookmarks promoting the artwork from last year's Art that Moves You panels will be created, and donated to the local library and museum gift shop Fort St. John Community Arts Council 250-787-2781

What: Band Recruitment Tour When: April 21-23 Where: Fort St. John area
The Advanced, Junior, and Senior bands travel to the elementary schools in the Fort St. John area to put on concerts for the schools and encourage students in grade 5 to sign up for band in the fall. Each band performs at 3 elementary schools. Contact: Joan Montgomery

Prespatou

What: Arts and Culture Week Art Show and Open Mic When: April 24, 1:00 pm Where: Prespatou Elementary-Secondary School
Student art from Grades 1-8 will be on display in the gym. Students will visit the show in the afternoon. There will be a rehearsal for Music Monday on May 4th where there will be some skits performed by various grades. In the evening, there will be an open mic event for students and adults from the community. Contact: Kerri Richards

Prince Rupert

What: Rupert Writes When: April 25 Where: Prince Rupert Civic Centre
Rupert Writes, a program of the PRCAC, has embarked on a story gathering project to interview local seniors and elders. Black & white portraits will be taken of each senior, and the seniors will be encouraged to donate an artifact, craft or something about themselves for an exhibit. After interviewing the seniors, local writers will develop a story or poem to be used in the display. The exhibit will be installed during Arts & Culture Week at the Prince Rupert Civic Centre to coincide with the Senior’s Social – an evening of dancing and camaraderie on April 25. ARTS UMBRELLA is coming to Prince Rupert and bringing theatre programs for 2 weeks to Pineridge and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. They are aiming to put on performances for all the schools in the area during Arts & Culture Week.

Queen Charlotte

What: So a Picture When: April 19-25 Where: Roving to various communities
Artists working with various media, all recycled, will create works to approximately 8.5"' x 11", and these will be assembled on a black background to resemble a large quilt. A series of community events including lots of live theatre, TR Junior Idol, a vocal competition. The Grizzley Valley Players will team up with TRSS students for live theatre, improv and skits, and there will be scrapbooking, quilting and art displays.
