Philip is a multi-instrumentalist who draws his influences from reggae, ska, folk, funk, blues and rock. Weighing on his creative mind are questions about love, life, peace, nature, and the human experience and students from Keremeos, Okanagan Falls, Greenwood, Rock Creek, Grand Forks, Osoyoos and Oliver will be faced with such questions during this performance. Dianna David provides a fusion of performance skills such as clowning, mime, hip hop dance, contact juggling, improv and light manipulation to entertain and teach the youth. She will be performing for students in Armstrong, Enderby, Sicamous, Canoe, Clearwater and Vavenby. ArtStarts in Schools

What: Alberta Opera Musical Theatre for Young People When: April 20-24 Where: Schools
This longstanding musical theatre group presents the Frog Prince, which follows the traditional fairy tale with comic touches and lessons about acceptance and the importance of friendship to students in Chilliwack, Penticton, Merritt, Lower Nichola and Coldstream. ArtStarts in Schools

The students of Big Lake Elementary will be teaming up with 2 art teachers twice a week to create masterpieces that will be framed and sold by bid at their Art Auction on May 7th. Also during their Art and Music Celebration, students be performing shows in the artistic genre of their choice. This will be a community/school celebration. Fund-raiser for the Chantant Youth Ensemble to represent BC at "Unisong" in Ottawa on July l (performing with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, on Parliament Hill and in several churches). Twelve 12 to 16 year-old young women from the North Okanagan will sing Canadian compositions. The concert also features - from Enderby - pianist Katie Abbott and violinist Blythe Heywood who will also play french horn. Shakespeare's famous tale of star-crossed lovers is unquestionably the world's best-known love story and his most sensuous romantic tragedy. The plot unfolds very quickly against the harsh and frequently violent environment of the play's setting. Facey has created a distinctly Canadian spin to this production making the wealthy Montague family Anglophone and the equally wealthy Capulet family Francophone. Kelowna's Taste of Culture program for 2009 will take place in the Cultural District from Monday, April 20th , through Friday, April 24th, during BC Arts & Culture Week. An estimated 300 students from local middle and high schools will rotate through three venues: the Kelowna Art Gallery, the Rotary Centre for the Arts, and the Kelowna Museums. Each venue will introduce the students to the various career and volunteer opportunities available, through activities and tours, and allow students to explore how culture is expressed through the arts. Taste of Culture is a partnership between the Kelowna Art Gallery, the Kelowna Museums, the Rotary Centre for the Arts, and the City of Kelowna. Kelowna Museums
